We have a new feature this month where a question is asked to jumpstart our thinking. So …
With my reviews, I notice a recurring theme. People often remark that they are part of my characters' experience in that they feel as if they are on location. Since I write from the island of Jamaica, I take that as a compliment. It's a good thing when someone can open the pages and dive right in alongside the characters.

That's so true about your books. I loved the Jamaica setting.
ReplyDeleteWhen you write what you know, living in paradise is wonderful. I bet everybody in Jamaica is surprised they live in paradise. lol
ReplyDeleteAwesome! They get to visit Jamaica without leaving their homes.
ReplyDeleteNo greater compliment than to be able to take your readers to the setting you've chosen! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteOooh, that would be great to be "on location".
ReplyDeleteI struggle with "location," so that is a great compliment.
ReplyDeleteThat shows that you have captured the sense of place very well! Great compliment.
ReplyDeleteI think of you often down there in Jamaica, one of the sweetest places on the planet. I've only been there once, so hearing your stories about your country brings all my memories alive. Thanks, Joy.
ReplyDeleteMy best comment is when I published The Vanished Knight. My friend sent me a message along the lines of: You b*tch! It's the night before my final exam and your book had me up reading until it was done.
ReplyDeleteThe message was sent at 3am and she was studying to be a doctor.
