It's
that time again when we share our insecurities and support each other through
those writing blahs. Do ensure you visit writers you haven't visited before and
offer support in the IWSG spirit.
To
join the group, click through to this link
and sign up. Posting is on the first Wednesday of every month. Try to visit as
may new blogs as possible to spread some cheer and encouragement.
Captain Alex's co-hosts today are Laura at My Baffling Brain, Mark Koopmans, Shah Wharton, and Sheena-Kay Graham!
A
Special Announcement
Today
marks three years since the very first IWSG post. Next month marks one year since the IWSG
site and Facebook group opened. And we’d like you to help us celebrate!
The
IWSG Team is putting together an eBook that will benefit
all writers - The IWSG Guide to Publishing and Beyond.
And we invite all IWSG members, Facebook members, and
followers to contribute.
Here
are the details:
The
three topics will be writing, publishing, and marketing.

You
can either post it for your October 1
IWSG post or email it directly to TheIWSG@gmail.com or alexjcavanaugh@earthlink.net
(Since the length can go over the standard IWSG post length.) Include a one sentence byline and a link to your
site. Also state that you give us permission to use it in the book and which
topic it falls under. (We will only edit for misspellings and grammar
mistakes.)
All
submissions need to be sent or posted by October
2, 2014. We will compile them into an eBook and aim for an early
December release. The book will be free and available for all eReaders.
Thank
you for making the IWSG such a huge success!!

Really excited about our book project!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great project!
ReplyDeleteThat book cover is really eye-catching!
ReplyDeleteI also need to put more time into my writing/editing...
Happy IWSG Day!
Devoting specific time to writing is always hard. You think you'll do it if... Then other things clamor for attention. Sometimes, you have to ignore them and write. Other times, well, you know what happens. Life.

I really love this idea. I've read a bunch of books on publishing by single authors, but I think that if we can all combine what we've learned and what we have to share, I think this will be the heck of a book with lots of resources and tips for all authors. Can't wait !
ReplyDeleteThe book sounds awesome! One of my goals for September is to focus more on writing, too. I quit my job three months ago so I could work on writing more, and I feel like I haven't gotten much done.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great project indeed JL :) have a great Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping I have something worth adding to the compilation. This will be a challenge for sure! I plan on having some time to really think and process after finishing the current wip! Then see where I go next...
ReplyDeleteThe book project sounds great. Plans for writing? Just do it. (Sorry, Nike.) BIC HOK (butt in chair, hands on keyboard).
ReplyDeleteI'm cutting back in September so I can finish my current book.
ReplyDeleteI have the opposite problem; my work hours have increased so I'm finding it difficult to find time to write, although somehow I've managed to get more writing done than I did when I was working less. Maybe it's something to do with motivation?
ReplyDeleteI'm with you! Even cutting back my blogging time, I still don't seem to keep my butt in the chair any longer. Fingers crossed for both of us. :)

I plan to get more focused on my writing as well. Late October onwards I'll be busy with covers because I signed up with a cover artist with a long booking list. But her covers are amazing so the wait is worth it. All the best with your writing and life outside it Joy and thank you for your touching words over at my blog.

A fabulous idea for an IWSG celebration! I hear ya on dedicating more time to writing. Before I know it, the day's more than halfway over and I haven't written nearly enough!
ReplyDeleteA Movement of Hope
I talked about my plans on my post today. Mostly tactics to help me focus.
ReplyDeleteWow, I can't believe it has been three years. I love the idea of the IWSG e-book. Fantastic. Can't wait to read it.
ReplyDeleteYay for the IWSG anniversary!!
ReplyDeleteMay you find your focus again, Joy.
The book idea is being greeted with lots of excitement. Three years? Whew.
ReplyDeleteHi JL! I'm loving this book idea. How exciting! I've been traveling a lot, so I'm really happy to be home in September. I'm focusing on settling into a regular writing schedule. The IWSG is really a wonderful group. I'm so glad that I found it. Happy writing to you!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your goal. I also need to focus back on writing. I want to write something each day, even if it's just for 20 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's three years old. How time flies! Next thing you'll say is that I've been writing blogs for three years...holy cow...it has been three years!
ReplyDeleteWriting keeps taking a back seat in my life right now. Here's to not letting that happen to you.
ReplyDeleteSo amazing that it's three years old . . . and I forgot to post anything about that. Yikes. Looking forward to a month of school work and writing.
ReplyDeleteHappy writing and life!
