Who's Your Hero for 2014?

Revised post

Last year, the novel Saving Sam was released just after Heroes' Day, a Jamaican holiday which celebrates the island's seven national heroes. This year, I'll be doing a mix-and-match tour for the Island Adventure Romance series (see side bar) and that will commence on October 20  (Heroes' Day) and run to the end of the month.

In 2013, several writers shared some heart-warming posts in which they wrote about real-life heroes. If you participated last year, you're welcome to write about another person who has touched your life in some way or create a flash fiction or opinion piece.

It's easy to participate. On November 3, post approximately 300 words about someone who has encouraged or inspired you. Your hero may be a friend, spouse, teacher or writing buddy. I know it may be hard to stay within the allotted word count, however the shorter your post, the better the chances of it being read all the way through. Bloggers on the run appreciate concise posts.

  2. I left a comment, but I think it vanished. It was just me saying that my husband is my hero. He's suffered greatly yet never lost his sense of humour.

    1. I think my comment vanished too, Joylene. Unless I'm logged in under my name, I tend to lose the comment. Now it says 'Google Account' so I' m gonna copy and post it again. In that comment I said, you gotta respect someone who has suffered much and yet still has a sense of humor. Most of us would complain in that scenario.

    1. I know you men are less likely to go high on the word count. Last year makes me eager to see what people choose to write about this time.

    1. Too true, Michelle. Came close to forgetting about it, but wanted to do it because there were some really good posts last year.

  7. I remember when this came around last year and I was up to my eyeballs so couldn't participate. I'll give it a whirl this year.

  10. Love this blogfest idea. What a great thing. I'm trying to brainstorm who I want to write about. That way I know I'm prepared before I sign up. Sounds truly fantastic. It's so important to remember our heroes.
