Could you explain what’s going on without being ticked off?

  1. If I were calm and collected sure. But if I was worried about Mark or jumpy I would explain it how I would know how and I might be a little annoyed if they didn't understand the first time around. So "it depends" is my answer.

  2. This is kind of a serious situation. I guess I'd let it ride, then I'd look for another friend--one who wasn't so eager to put me down.

  3. I don't think I could. Not when someone is acting like a moron about a serious situation. I'd want to punch the guy LOL.

  4. I have no patience for morons, so I'd go talk to someone with a brain.

  5. I would have to take a long, deep breath before explaining. And he didn't understand it the second time, I'd walk away. lol

  6. Nope, I could never be nice about it.

  7. I'd explain it again And this time I'd break it down and explain what the vitreous humor was and how it could possibly cause Mark to lose his vision. Never miss an opportunity to educate others. :-)

  8. Besides the annoyance factor incited by verbose people (why are they always boring too? If they're going to talk so much, I wish they'd at least choose interesting topics!), I'm stuck on why a part of the eye has the word "humor" in it.

    Cheers, JL.

  9. Maybe he's a doctor, or maybe he likes using BIG words to show off. In any case no one should be thought of or called an idjit because he/she doesn't know something and asks for an explanation. We can't all of us know everything. Our education levels, our experiences are each different. My father, a brilliant man, taught me that asking questions was a sign of intelligence, a wanting to learn. If I'm going to use BIG words then I should be patient enough to explain what they mean.

  11. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. We all react differently to given situations which is what makes this world such an interesting place.

  12. I think he needs to talk to someone who's both patient and who'll match his vocabulary.

  13. I guess I would have focused on the part of that sentence I understood. Mark was in an accident, was poked in the eye, and it was serious enough that he might lose the eye. Instead of calling out the guy on using words like "vitreous humor" that I don't understand, I would just agree and say something like, "Yeah, I hope he doesn't lose his eye." There were enough Easy To Understand words to piece together what was going on.
