Matriculate
Would you take the time to explain the difference between both words?

  1. I would, if I knew the difference. :) Didn't know the word "metricate", that's my new word for today. Thanks.

  3. I would if I knew what metricate meant. Never heard that one before, now I'm curious.

    1. It does sound like a made-up word isn't it? It has to do with converting stuff to metric measurements.

  4. J.L.... These are really funny. People using words incorrectly is annoying and hilarious all at the same time. Another thing that happens a lot to readers: mispronouncing words. People who read a lot know the word, what it means, but often say it WRONG. When that happens, I think to myself... "Oh that person is a reader." And then I don't know if I should tell them or not. I hate for them to continue saying it wrong, but I don't want to make them feel stupid, either. Sometimes, I will say, "Oh, you are a reader." Wait. They agree. "I only know because I said that word the same way (even if I didn't) until someone told me that it should be said *this way.* Isn't that funny it happened to both of us?" That gets the information across without making the person feel dumb.

And, of course, this has made me think of another HERE'S TO YOU clip... maybe you should keep this series up after the A to Z. You would get featured on Thursdays A LOT.

HERE'S TO YOU...(just the first scene)...

    1. Robin, gotta watch that video. The last one you gave me a video for was sooooooo funny. :) Half the time, I stay silent when people mispronounce words while reading. I know what you mean though about not wanting people to continue to say the wrong thing. Years ago, I had a co-worker who was unrepentant about saying Grand Pricks instead of Grand Prix. The one this will teach me to do is draw better...eventually :D

  5. Cute! Champ should think about enrolling in summer school and not worry about his brother. LOL!

  6. Nah. Just let them discover the difference after the brother has finished.

  7. Poor guy, he tried and he got corrected quite lightly. Cute he's thinking of his brother.

  8. Joy, I have no idea what metricate is... off to google it or else it will bug me the whole night.

    1. I'm like that. I gotta know. I think someone made up this word just because. :)

  9. Metricate is a new word for me, too. But I do know matriculate and seeing as how I correct my hubby I'd probably correct the guy.

    1. Bish, sometimes I restrain myself from correcting people. If it's the hubs, I guess it's okay on a regular basis. :)

  10. He may have meant exactly what he said if his brother is going to Matriculate at Oxford University or somewhere else in the UK...
