What’s a girl to do when her guy won’t unwrap his mind from around his ex?

  1. Dude, that's not good! Think she needs to move on.

  2. My advice on this would also be to tell her to move on and tell her that she deserves better than being compared to another woman. But when you are the woman in that situation, things are more complicated. So as the girl in the situation...

Confront him about it. Depending on his reaction will tell where she has to go from there.

  3. No one should be coming in behind an ex. If you are... it is time to pack it up and move on. A partner can have a lot of potential, but potential is only good stuff that has not happened yet. And it may never happen. Better to date someone who is actually a good catch.

  4. Get the heck out of there. Every person, man or woman definitely deserves better than someone hung up on an ex or someone they can't have.

  5. Tell him that he's on her bucket list, the list of the buckets she's going to dump in the trash.

  6. True that, Heather.

    Debi, that's funny.

  7. I agree with Debi, dump him.

  8. Great emotion in that simple cartoon. The guy's a jerk!

  9. Personally, I wouldn't care since I never pay attention to what men say -- they're mentally challenged due to testosterone poisoning. If it were in my book, my heroine would get all overemotional and worry about herself ... unless it was close to the end, in which case she'd realize HE was the one with the problem. Et voila -- character arc completion! ;)

    1. Lexa, you always make me laugh. She's a volatile one, so she might just clobber him.

  10. Leave him. :) If he's preoccupied with memories of his ex he's got no space in his heart/mind/life to make NEW memories with his new girlfriend/lover/spouse.

  11. Depends on a lot of things. I mean if his ex died tragically and your relationship is new that can change things. Also depends on WHEN he's calling you by her name? In a fight or in bed - context makes all the difference.

  13. Depends. We went to stay with hubby's ex wife a couple of times. We had stayed with my ex too on other occasions. Hubby kept calling me ex wife's name. I could have murdered him. He only did it the one trip though and we had been married a long time when this happened.

  18. Cleemckenzie is right! I say turn around and walk away. If you hear him behind you, run.

    1. Running away from trouble sounds like a good plan.

  19. My gut response was "walk." But thinking about it in terms of a story I could write, I thought, what if she really loves him and thinks that he might have feelings for her too? It could also depend on whether there are other signs of whether he's still hung up on the ex or not. And then I thought, maybe she should fight back, give him something to call her name out loud about:)

  20. Damaria, I like the way you think. I guess if she feels he's worth it, then maybe he's worth fighting for...but only if she sees some kinda potential in him. I'd probably smack him in the head though.
