Last Quarter Publishing Agenda

Monday, October 14, 2013

This last quarter of the year is shaping up to be a busy time. My next middle grade novel will be formally released come October 22, 2013. It’s about an 11 year-old-boy who is abused in a foster home. His aunt helps to make things right in his world and she becomes his hero.

I have some rights coming back to me as well, which means I have to get some important stuff done with regard to those books. Then there’s my first love, which I’ve neglected for a while now. I cut my teeth on romance novels, which I started reading when I was in primary school. Let’s just say I have four books that I need to turn around in a short time. In terms of marketing, I don’t think I’ll be doing too much when the time comes for these books to hit the market because current books help to sell future ones.
In terms of the current book, I’ve asked a few people to read and post early reviews to give the novel some traction. Saving Sam is free today. Download a copy if you think it’s something you’ll like. I haven’t made a splash about this and I’m not asking for shares because I’m not a fan of giving away free books although they have their place and do their job. I’m giving the book away now because it’s the simplest way to get reviews and not run the risk of Amazon removing them for the reason that the book wasn’t bought there.

I’ll also be revamping some information for a website that I should have been working on ages ago. All this is more than enough to keep me busy for a while. I feel a brainstorming and scheduling session coming on. The best decision I made lately was to stop moaning about lack of time and start making use of what I do have. I’ve amazed myself with the ground I’ve covered since then. Didn’t realize moaning and inactivity took up so much time.

You didn’t think you were gonna get away without me talking about the blogfest did you? Between October 22 & 24 tell us Who’s Your Hero in 300 words. If you haven’t signed up as yet, see the linky list below. There’s a $10.00 Amazon Gift Card it the mix.

What d’you have planned for this week? Writing? Editing? Marketing? Make sure to pop over and visit the IWSG site for some inspiration and encouragement to start the week. I've stopped in and topped up already.

Thanks for the blogfest reminder. I think I will have to post a day early for that one.

    1. Those don't take up a whole lot of time. I find it's the book related stuff that keeps me occupied. I love this writing gig, so it's all good. Thanks again for signing up.

  3. I can't believe it's the last quarter of the year already. How did that happen?? As usual I don't feel like I accomplished much at all this year.

Good luck with all of your goals for the rest of 2013. :)

  4. Wow we need to make last quarter plans eh? I've been in survival mode, holding my nose above the water line for the last five months and don't see that changing before January. All the best to you with the rest of your goals!

  5. You do have a very busy schedule for this last quarter.
Mine is building up to be busier than I expected. I'm working on bringing my Rayven Godchild pen name back to action so I've got work to do there.I'm working on a project with the Untethered Realms group plus doing Ren Faire with MPax in November and I've got a couple of NA stories knocking hard and ready for release along with a dystopian story I should be working on self-pubbing. Yep. Busy but loving it :-)

    1. Hey, Angela,
Love your attitude. Sounds like you have lots on your plate too. I think as long as we concentrate on just getting the small stuff done a chunk at a time, then things will fall into place eventually.

    2. Me too. It's so easy to get distracted by all the cool new things I'm learning that have no barring on my story though.

    1. Woot! Woot! Hope you get lots done. I do need to get moving on some of these books I've had sitting for years. No time like the present.

  10. I am almost through reading it and I just love the story. I loved the previous story as well. I will let you know when I will post the review.

  11. Lots of stuff going on! I always admire the writers that seem to juggle half a dozen balls in the air. I can only handle one project at a time.

    1. Hi, Jessie,
The thing with folks like me who juggle stuff is that it takes us longer to finish any one thing. :) Guess there are advantages to working both ways. Thanks for coming by.

  12. Hello Joy. I"m glad I popped in. My internet is super slow today so I've been here for ages signing up for your 'fest etc. Will be exciting. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all on my plate too. I downloaded your book and will post a review when I can. Glad to hear there's going to be more romance in the future! All the best. Dx

  14. Hi, Denise, thanks for signing up. I too am looking forward to hearing about other people's heroes. Keep moving forward on those projects. I'm enjoying the editing on the romance. It's been a long break for me.

Thanks so much, Leigh. Glad to have you on board. Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing as much as I can, but I'm learning to quiet the voices that tell me I can do more.

  15. Oh wow. But I'm sure you can do it all. You're very prolific.
