A Brief Update

Miniature rose - posted right side up this time.

I’ve been out of it for a while, but with good reason. Tomorrow’s our Independence Day and boy am I looking forward to that holiday. I’ve been doing all sorts of things, namely:

  •  Editing
  • Researching the local justice system for my WiP
  • Taking my second gander at formatting
  • Working at the day job
  • Working at the day job
  • Working at the day job on the weekend
  • Experimenting with a book cover
  • Thinking about editing another novel
  • Thinking about writing another novel, which should have been finished by now
  • Taking all of the above in stride

What have you been doing?

  1. I take it working the day job has sucked up a bit of time? Sounds like you've been productive though!

  2. Today I've decided to create a new book genre. More about that in the week. Yes our Independence Day is tomorrow and i'm proud to be a black and free Jamaican. Glad to see you've been productive in writing despite the day job taking up your time. Like you wrote, take it in stride.

  3. I couldn't help noticing you had "working the day job" a few times up there lol!!
And may I say that I can truly understand your pain.

I hope things will get to a point where you can get down and dirty with the writing and chug your stories on out of your system and into our grubby little reading hands :-)

As for myself, I'm "working the day job", organizing a cover reveal, editing, doing some revisions and beta reading. Just the norm for my days now lol!!!

  5. Hi Joy. It's always sad when the day job extends into the weekend. However, you are getting so much done, or planning to. Good for you.
Well, I've been pretty taken up with getting WEP up and running. Great response so far. I hope you can buzz across even if only to post some photos of Jamaica! Would be wonderful! I adore photography, so am looking forward to having some posted in this bloghop.
Meanwhile, I've been spending far too much time blogging and far too little time editing my WIP and writing fresh stories.

  6. Alex, I've been short-staffed for a week now. The new person came in today, which is wonderful.

Sheena, I'm looking forward to hearing about your book genre. I'm happy for the rest day tomorrow. I'll be working on some stuff of my own, of course.

Lots going on for you, Angela. I'd love to get some more stuff out, but I know it takes time. I can but dream about writing full time for now.

Diane, I'll be sure to take advantage of the holiday tomorrow. I'll be getting up late for starters.

Denise, I'll definitely pop over and have a look around. Blogging can and does take up a lot of time.

  8. Phew! You are one ambitious lady. I hope you enjoy your day off and relax and restore! My summer has not at all gone like I planned, but then life rarely does. My schedule and routine have been shot to heck and I just am rolling with it, trying to get in a little writing when I can. It's all good. Sometimes you just have go with the flow of what's happening and learn whatever it is you're supposed to be learning. All the best to you!

  10. Damyanti, thanks. Haven't rested yet, but I did get up late today.

So true, Julie. Fighting what's going on can be counterproductive in that it leads to frustration.

Thanks, Deniz. Hope your schedule allows you to slow down some.

  11. I hope you and all of Jamaica and a wonderful Independence Day! I've been staying indoors as much as possible because of the 100 degree plus temps we've been having. And while indoors I've been working of revisions.

    1. Good on you, Bish. I hope the revisions are going well. As to the sun, it's blinding hot here - as expected at this time of year.

    1. Hey, Charmaine,
I'm trying to whittle the list as I go.

  15. So far this month, I've tried to deal with the fact that I have way too many projects, finished a rough draft, realized I need help to get some proper branding done for my fantasy series... and am no rewriting something completely unrelated. Phew!

    1. Misha, I don't think the too many projects thing is ever going to change if that's your style> I realize I'll always be bedeviled by that. Wish I could write full time. :( Inch by inch though is a good way to cover what you have to do.

      Carol, the circus never ends.

      Thanks, Jay!
