Today,
I have a three for one post.
Alex Cavanaugh, the Ninja Captain, is hosting the Genre Favourite Blogfest today and we’re supposed to list our
favourite genres in Movie, Music, Books and a guilty pleasure genre from any of
the three. I know there are many people participating, and time is precious, so here goes:
Movie
– I’m not big on movies, but I do enjoy Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Action/Adventure films, with
lots of special effects. Think movies like The Mummy, The Scorpion King and the
Indiana Jones series. Yeah, I'm a dinosaur. These are my movies of choice. :)

Guilty
Pleasure: Music – old school DJ Music (reggae). The rhythms are mostly good,
but the lyrics make little sense and some are downright lewd.
Thanks
so much to everybody who helped and supported me during my book tour, which
wrapped up this past weekend. I can’t say how much I appreciate your
encouragement and friendship. Much more to come on my blog tour experience, so stay tuned.
Congratulations
to the winners below in the Friendship-is-Forever
Distraction Blog Tour. Thanks so much for participating guys. Email winging
its way to you.

Some
of you might know that I write young adult fiction, among other things. I’ve
written several YA novels that have won local awards. These have been sitting
on a remote server for ages. I think the time is right (no time like the
present) to focus some of my energy on these novels. Otherwise, they might
never see the light of day. Do visit my Jamaican Kid-Lit blog
when you have some time on your hands.
Enjoy the Blogfest! See the list of other bloggers here.

P.S. For some reason, I’m having the most difficult time
staying connected to Blogger. I definitely will return your visit as soon as I
can leave a comment that sticks. That message ‘Server not found’ has been
driving me nuts today.
I'm glad you had a good tour, you certainly went to a lot of places. And, I do like me some good reggae.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Bish. Good reggae music hits the spot every time.
DeleteScience fiction and movies with special effects would've been my second choice.
ReplyDeleteOh you are super cool! I LOVE music from the 50s, and I'm pretty sure that's quite unusual for someone of my age, but it's SO good!
ReplyDeleteStephen King who writes to the music of the 50's would love you. If you check out my unique genre of choice: friendship with a dash of magic, I think you would blend with me! Have a lovely new week, Roland
ReplyDeleteI love reggae too. ...didn't list it as a favorite, but still love it. :)
ReplyDeleteI love Reggae! It makes me happy :) My WIP is a romantic suspense too! If I ever get it done and published.
ReplyDelete50s music made my favorite list, too (along with many others). And I heartily agree that humor makes all of the genres better. I listed horror as my favorite movie genre, but I especially like the ones that make me cringe AND laugh.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the successful blog tour,
Jocelyn
Romantic suspense is always a fun one. Lots of conflict and steaminess. Great combo.
ReplyDeleteYou're not a dinosaur! Indiana Jones is one the best movie-series ever made.
ReplyDeleteThanks to everybody who's visited so far. I think I've covered everybody on my trip around the blogosphere.
ReplyDeleteWell if you're a dinosaur, then I am too. I totally agree with Zoltan, Indiana Jones is one of the best movies ever made. I even loved #4 because they went for campy instead of real and I found it a hoot.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your YA endeavors, and do keep us posted.
Thanks for leaving the link. I like to visit everyone back, AND I'm trying to visit everyone in the blogfest...so every second counts ;-)

I dig your movie genres of choice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in my blogfest. Some great entries today.
Joy, I see right through you. Those are your movies of choice? I think you have a crush on Dwayne Johnson. Nothing wrong with that. But I'm just callin' your B.S. :P
ReplyDeleteSee there now, you made me laugh out in the office. You are absolutely right and I wasn't even thinking about that when I wrote the post. That's what I love most about you, you tell it like it is. :D
DeleteJoy
Enjoyed reading your post! Reggae music is really cool. It makes me feel like I'm on vacation.
ReplyDeleteNice choices. I like reggae, but not as familiar with other types of Jamaican music. Saw Marley once - he did a fantastic show, he never stopped moving about that stage. Stopping by on the Genre Faves Hop!
ReplyDeleteOld school anything brings back some great memories and some not so great awkward ones, lol.
ReplyDeleteI love that you love Reggae. I don't hear that much but I do like what I hear when I hear it.
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love the Rock? And Shabba too, baby. Love it.
ReplyDeleteMina, you bring a ray of sunshine when you come. You should post more regularly. Thanks for dropping in.
DeleteI so agree about humor, it's the perfect addition to many genres. Such a fun blogfest today!
ReplyDeleteI love Indiana Jones movies too.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love humor added to anything!
Reggae is cool, and dinosaur movies never go out of style - esp. if they're really good:) Your picks are superb!
ReplyDeleteWhat I love about this blogfest is the way old forgotten favourites come up. I LOVE Johnny Horton. My big brothers always had his records. My fave was 'Sink the Bismark.' I like the movies you mentioned too.
ReplyDeleteThe Indiana Jones trilogy is one of my favorites of all time! Thanks for sharing a bit about what you love. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners and to you, Joy, for such a great tour. You've got some great answers, especially the DJ Reggae. I've got a few that I listen to especially. Yeah, I get what you mean regarding the lewd part lol!!!
ReplyDeleteThose movies are a lot of fun to watch! I have enjoyed your book tour, congrats to the winners of your contest!
ReplyDeleteGreat book tour Joy!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE reggae music. It has a feel-good quality... when you're in a crowd and a reggae song plays, just watch the responses... it never fails to get heads nodding and feet tapping to the rhythms...
I ADORE your choices! With music, I agree the oldies are best: I love old country like Kenny Rogers, and we played a lot of Bob Marley at our beach wedding last year!
ReplyDeleteAs for films, great choices! The Mummy series is fantastic, and I'll have to add Jurassic Park to the mix. Great CGI!
Thanks for dropping in guys and for sharing your faves. Have to catch up with two of you. J.C. Tried leaving you a comment yesterday, but it wasn't happening.
DeleteHey, thanks for the vid of Johnny Horton. I'd never seen that one but I sure knew all his songs when I was young. And Indian Jones movies never get old.
ReplyDeleteThis one is a funny one. :)
DeleteLove the country music of the 50's -- Johnny Horton blared on my grandma's stereo. Indiana Jones and the Mummy excellent choices. Oh, and I love dinosaurs!
ReplyDeleteToo little time, so many blog and blogfests
Thanks for dropping in, Yolanda. Can't find a blog link for you, so dunno if I've visited you on the hop already.
DeleteThere's just something cool about those beats from the oldies - good choice! I'm a romantic suspense fan as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI love oldies too and am a fellow dinosaur. :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winner and to you for such a successful blog tour! I finished Distraction over the weekend and loved it. Good luck with the launch of the YA books!
Thanks, Julie. Glad you enjoyed the book.
DeleteI loved seeing your name everywhere on the book tour! And fabulous genre picks. Way fun!
ReplyDeleteScorpion King! I remember watching that years ago and being amazed that "The ROck" could act:)

Glad your tour went well, Joy. I love reggae. I listen to it often. Reminds me of a trip I took to Nevis many years ago.
ReplyDeleteLoving Indiana Jones doesn't make you a dinosaur! I can watch that series over and over.
