tagged me with the Lucky 7 Meme. I am supposed to
- Go to page 77 of my current MS
- Go to line 7
- Copy down the next 7 lines as they're written-- no cheating!
- Tag 7 other writers
- Let them know
I’m already cheating
– not on copying the text, but on being too lazy to tag anybody else. After working
the weekend, I’m barely able to think straight. Here goes:-
Justine’s stomach vibrated in time with the ringing phone. She jerked awake and answered.“Justine?”A shiver chased over her flesh, bringing her voice down to a feeble whisper. “Yes?”Emile’s my last student today, so I’m gonna take him home and save you the trip over here.”Her pulse battered her throat and she had a hard time forcing out her next words. “Uh…I…okay.”“See you soon then.”She thought he was smiling, but wouldn’t swear on it. Maybe her mind was playing tricks on her.~Excerpt from Retribution
I think maybe people are enjoying Don't Get Mad...Get Even and maybe spreading the word 'cause the book is back in the number one slot in the free Kindle store for short stories. I have to thank Nick as I noticed yesterday at his blog that he was kind enough to post it in his sidebar.
Bloggers rock!
I like Don't Get Mad, Get Even. I'll post a review of it soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mike. I'd appreciate that.
DeleteI'm so glad your book is doing well again. I haven't really even looked to see how my book is doing lately. I should promote it more.
ReplyDeleteYeah, you should. I have one that's languishing too (Hardware), which I should be giving lots more attention to. I plan to get Sholes Key. Downloaded the sample and read it. Good stuff.
DeleteI like the 77777 meme. It's fun to see little excepts and wonder what happened to get there and were they are going.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I also wanted to say, that Crime Fiction Alphabet thing is not my idea by Kerrie's at http://paradise-mysteries.blogspot.mx/2012/05/crime-fiction-alphabet-2012-letter.html
ReplyDeleteThanks, looks like fun, I checked it out. Good thing is that it's one a week, so there's not so much pressure.
DeleteGood on you for Don't Get Mad, Get Even :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd that was a pretty thought-provoking excerpt. Really has me interested.
Thanks, Angela. I'm riding hard toward the end of this story.
DeleteJ.L., your verb choices are incredible! I love verbs. What a great excerpt. It's piqued my interest. Congrats on movie up in the Kindle stats again :-)
ReplyDeleteNick is so great!
Thanks, Susan. I've enjoyed working on this book and the one before it that features these same two people. Yeah, Nick is a wonderful buddy. Found him during this last Challenge.
DeleteCongrats for Don't Get Mad, Get Even
ReplyDeleteLoved your mini excerpt. I certainly wanted to read more.
Thanks, Lynda. I hope that short story will translate to some faithful readers.
DeleteLoved that tiny snippet :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping in. Waiting to see your vacay pics.
DeleteOoh nice snippet! And I love the sound of your book. I have heard nothing but great reviews for it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie. I'm trying to wrap this one up soon.
DeleteOh my goodness glory girl...that was a marvelous tease for sure!
ReplyDeleteGod bless and have an awesome day! :o)
Thanks for dropping in, Nezzy.
DeleteJ.L. I just passed the Kreativ Blogger Award to you, but don't feel a need to follow-up with it if you don't want to. I know these awards can be time consuming.
ReplyDeleteSusan, thanks so much. I am soooo bad at passing these on, but I'm coming over anyway.
DeleteHi JL!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the No 1 slot for your book. I'm also going to display at my sidebar on Romance Book Haven
Thanks very much! I visited and tweeted Kste's article. Thanks again.
DeleteI always find it hard to tag people.
ReplyDeleteBloggers do rock.
Loved the piece, J.L.
I know, I tend no to tag because I guess all of us are so busy trying to juggle writing and other stuff. Yep, bloggers are so generous with their time!
DeleteGreat snippet! I have a visual from just those few lines!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rula. Bully for me. :)
Delete"Her pulse battered her throat...." I like it.
ReplyDeleteInteresting excerpt.
