Snapshots of Jamaica & Pleasure Reads

I’m editing my next novel and this is now the second print out I’m working with. Since I’m never satisfied, I’m still marking it up with a red pen, which tells me I’m further away from my target than I thought. After I’m done with this read through and edit, I’ll save it to my Kindle for a pleasure read, but I suspect I’m deluding myself.

What’s a pleasure read, you ask? Well, I haven’t ever done it before, but I’m going to try to read the book as a reader would, without editing anything. So far, I’ve read two print copies of my novels and while I did, I was still looking for errors, just in case the editor or I had missed anything. I’m weird I know, but then so are a lot of other writers.
Have you ever managed to read any of your published work without your internal editor chipping in and messing up your enjoyment of the story?

Tell me about it.

On another note, I’ve been very lax in putting up pictures of Jamaica. I took the ones below in November of 2011 while on the way to Montego Bay. If you ever come to Jamaica, make sure you have something to eat at Scotchie’s. You don’t get better Jamaican jerk anywhere! And don’t you just love the rustic feel?
