A Lying Crusader & Making Like Sherlock Holmes

Saturday, February 26, 2011

Like so many other bloggers over the past couple of weeks, I’ve made new connections through the Writers’ Platform Building Crusade and the Bernard Pivot Blogfest

I wanted to take a moment to thank those of you who are now followers.  I would like to follow as many of you as possible and know I haven’t finished cementing those connections.  The first pass at your blog was to follow and when I return, it will be to catch up on what’s been happening in your world. If you've happened by just now and left me a comment or added yourself as a follower, rest assured, I'll swoop around to your neck of the woods shortly.

For some who've joined me here, I made like Sherlock Holmes and followed them through their Twitter account which led me to their blogs, but I still haven’t been able to track roughly a half dozen bloggers because they have not listed their blog on their blogger profile page. Not to worry though, if it’s possible to find you, I will. That makes me feel like a stalker, but what’s a little stalking between writers? Meantime, I’m still working my way through the Crusaders list.

As to the lie from last week’s challenge. I stated that I always wear lipstick when going out, and this is true. However, I don’t wear lipstick at home.

Don’t forget to stop by on March 1, when I Take Five With…Sybil Nelson, author of Priscilla the Great.

  1. Aren't the links on the Crusader Groups page working for you? Button on the top-right. Sounds like how I did it; just a rapid-fire Following of everyone, then try to visit as many as possible.

  2. Will, thanks. I'm a little - okay, maybe a lot - disorganized in my approach to following people. I've been using Rachel's list, but sometimes I try to access people's blogs, if they've followed me first, by clicking on their icon, which usually takes me to their blog. Doesn't work all the time. I think I'm almost done following everybody though. Next time, I'll work straight from the list. :D

  3. Hi JL! Thanks for dropping by my blog. I'm now following all crusaders that can be followed :) And yes I'm now following you! :)

  4. Hi Joy,
Dang it, you had me fooled! I thought for sure the lipstick thing was true. :)

  5. Man, I wish I was even organised enough to wear lipstick outside, let alone inside. Or at all. I think I have some somewhere, I should find it...

  6. It's so hard to find people sometimes. It's always easier when folks leave a comment. Otherwise it can be tough. I have a few folks I'd like to follow back, but have been unable to find them!

  7. Tina, my clothes would be a mess if I wore lipstick while doing chores. :D

Amie, your comment made me laugh.

Jemi, it does make things easier when folks leave comments. If you know the names of the people, you can go down the list on Rach's blog to see if you find them. I found a couple people that way today.

  8. Hey J.L.! New follower saying hello :) I can barely manage to get on a little eyeliner before I go out--and that's only half the time. I commend you on always wearing lipstick in public--wish I could pull it off, but I can't find the right color for me :)

  9. Jess, in case you come back this way, get the person at the make-up counter to help you get the correct shade. Eyeliner is a lot for me. Gimme some lipstick and all is right with the world.

  10. Aha, the sneaky lipstick lie!

So funny, some people won't be seen outside the house without eye makeup, but eschew lipstick, and some of you are exactly the opposite!

I'm more like Amie. Hmmm, I'm sure I have some makeup in a neat little case in a drawer somewhere...

  11. Hello J L. How are you? I didn't get your lie. Good one.

I'm just finishing up my Publication Party series so now I've a little time to get around and say hi personally to everyone in my 2 crusader groups. I've made a blogroll in my sidebar especially for my groups so I can see your latest posts and comment (which is the idea as we can't keep up with 200+ crusaders!)

Today I also followed you on twitter and networked blogs. I hope you will find time to do the same for me. (I am pichetsinparis on twitter).

Oh, and I also created a badge which is yours to copy and take in my latest post of welcome to romance crusaders. I'd be delighted to see it in each of our sidebars.

  12. Adina, we women are a quirky lot, aren't we?

Denise, the blogroll for the groups is a great idea. Will get going on following, etc.

  13. awesome. I find that lipstick really does make you feel a little better... :D Reader just decided to dump all my new friends's posts at once, so I'm playing catchup! No worries~ :o)

  14. Yep, I always feel bad when I can't follow someone back because I simply can't find them.

  15. I'm late catching up with the crusade too. Thanks for following me.

I did read your crusade challenge, and couldn't discern the lie. The lipstic thing was a surprise. I'm not a girly girl however, so anything clothes or accessories - or cosmetics - will be believable by me :)

  17. So it was the lipstick :)
I where makeup, but I rarely wear lipstick. I'm afraid it would smear across my face and I wouldn't even realize it!

  18. No lipstick at home...well, I can't follow you anymore... ;-)

I wear lipstick maybe 3x a year, lol. I do have a serious chapstick addiction, however.

  19. I have to wear something on my lips, even if it's just chapstick or gloss, or they dry out.

BTW, love your blog title too!

  20. I'm having the same trouble - I admit I haven't made it around to all the crusaders yet, but some of those that have added me don't seem to have clickable profiles. I can't find 'em! I hope they don't think I'm not following back deliberately...

  21. It's great to meet you! I like the idea of your blog being the place where your characters congregate [g]

    Good to meet you too!
